On the second day, I participated in a morning Bible study at Erlöserkirche, focusing on „Gospel, Prayer, and Fellowship.“ The session was marked by international English songs that resonated deeply with the diverse congregation. A particular song, „Jesus is the answer for the world today,“ left an indelible mark on me. We delved into John 14:6, where Jesus declares, „I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“ The church was filled to capacity, with many following the study from outside, highlighting the event’s profound impact.
Attending the 39th Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag in Hannover from April 30 to May 4, 2025, was a profoundly enriching experience. Under the theme „Mutig – stark – beherzt“ („Courageous – Strong – Heartfelt“), the event brought together over 80,000 participants, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of spiritual and cultural exchange.
As a UEM volunteer, attending the Kirchentag was not only a personal highlight but also a meaningful opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers and leaders within the UEM network. We came together both current and former volunteers from diverse backgrounds and churches united through UEM partnerships. Throughout the five days, we shared fellowship, exchanged experiences, and built valuable relationships. One special moment was our joint meeting with volunteers from other organizations working in Germany, where we had the chance to learn from one another and celebrate our shared commitment to service. It was a truly enriching and joyful experience especially for me.
Later, I attended the „Concert of Intercultural and World Music“ at Apostelkirche, featuring Hannover Voices and the Chanaja team. This concert showcased a rich tapestry of musical traditions, bringing together voices from various cultures in a harmonious celebration of unity and faith.
These experiences reaffirmed my belief that Jesus is indeed the answer for the world today. I am deeply grateful to my home church, EAR Butare, the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), and the An Sieg und Rhein Church District for their support in making this journey possible. I carry with me the memories and lessons from Hannover, inspired to continue walking in faith and fellowship.
